Culture and EcologyIt is not possible for me to separate my devotion to my spiritual tradition from my passion for a consistent radical examination of our unhealthy, dangerous, pervasive worldview, and how that worldview affects the Earth, women, people of color, the GLBTQ community, indigenous peoples, etc. In many ways, some of these books belong in the Religion list, and some books on the Religion list belong on this one. My passion for the Mama in all Her extravagant, bright and red beauty, and the Peoples that are a part of her (whether human or otherwise), is expressed in a million ways, and one of those ways is in Holy Anger at desecration and destruction committed by a worldview of isolation and greed. Many of the following books have blasted through my bones and seduced me with their gorgeous truths, their words have become a part of my heart. Others are simply damned good books. And there are many more out there. In the fight between the whole Peoples of this Earth and the forces that move to turn the Living into the Dead, I ask myself always: Whose side am I on?
