About Sara Sutterfield Winn, Gospel Pagan

sara

Sara Sutterfield Winn is a poet, a Witch, a Druid, and an anarchist.  She amuses herself by thinking of ways to advance the Pagan Evangelical movement, take over the world, lament eco-ignorance, exalt beauty, and find a million different reasons to post any and all poems by Mary Oliver.  Sara holds a bachelors degree in English, a masters degree in Theological Studies, and is currently in the preliminary stages of writing a work of non-fiction.  Her many and varied interests include ecotheology, feminism (and feminist thea/ology), postcolonial studies, the continued fight against military-industrial racist sexist heterosexist ecocidal patriarchal monocultural civilizations, handspinning, liturgical studies, ritual, prayer, writing, reading (always), teaching, taking long walks, singing, dancing, and trying to collapse the electrical grid to the civilized world with her mind.

Sara believes deeply in the spirit of the earth and is dedicated to a consistent critical approach to her personal worldview in order to pursue right relationship with the planet and all its spirits and beings.  Her religion is polytheist, animist, ecovangelist, magical, and activist.  She believes in beauty in simplicity and complexity, organic polythea/ologies, radical holism, authentic community, and the pursuit of holistic, personal gnosis.

Over the past several years, Sara has led workshops and discussions on Contemporary Western Paganisms in various venues, as well as workshops on the art of poetry and spoken word performance.

She has been a member of several spoken word communities, and performed with the Austin, TX Poetry Slam Team in Seattle, Washington in 2001.  In theme with her deepening spirituality and committment to her studies, she has recently released a short, self-published collection of poetry, written primarily during her years in seminary, that is available from Lulu.com.

Sara lives in the not-so-wild Midwest with her intrepid spouse and their demon-monkey-cat, Pinky.
